Q/A about commissions:

  1. What are your costume prices?

I have a basic list prices HERE. Please note, these are base prices only. Prices may vary depending on the complexity and detail of the costume. All prices are in USD.

  2. Can I get a costume for cheaper if I provide the materials?

Yes, if materials are provided I will lower the cost of making your costume, however I tend to discourage it. I use high quality materials in all my costumes, and have a good understanding of what fabrics work well when making complex costumes. Low quality or poor choice in materials can ruin the appearance and life of a costume.

  3. How does the queue system work?

My queue is ordered in a first come first served basis based off when I receive your deposit. Those who put down their deposits first, get priority on the queue. I work on my queue in the order listed. Sometimes a costume will be bumped on the queue, but this is at my descretion. Most reasons why a costume gets bumped is due to missing required resources (ie. if I am waiting on a DTD or materials for a suit, I may work on the next suit down on the list while I wait for the materials to arrive).

  4. What payment methods do you accept?

I accept Money orders (no western union), Certified Cheques and Paypal.

  5. Do you offer payment plans?

I do. Please inform me if you are interested in setting up a payment plan. I can accept small payments weekly, biweekly, or monthly. However please note, I cannot add your name to the queue until the full deposit amount has been paid. Also, I cannot ship you your finished costume until the full amount plus shipping has been paid.

  6. Where do I send my payment? DTD? Measurements?

Money orders, cheques, DTDs and measurements can be sent to my PO Box here:

    • Komickrazi Studios
    • PO Box 71161 Silver Springs
    • Calgary AB T3B 5K2
    • CANADA

  7. If you live in Canada, why do you charge prices in USD?

There are not many resources for faux furs and other materials in Canada. I often have to import raw materials from the USA. The Canadian dollar is not as stable as the American dollar and prices can fluctuate greatly over a very short period of time. Also, a majority of my customers are from the USA. Charging prices in USD instead of CAD is just easier for everyone.

  8. How does shipping work?

Shipping is NOT included in price. Once the costume is completed and fully paid for, I will pack the suit for shipping and send you a shipping price. I will ship the suit once you have provided payment for shipping. I ship all items via Canada Post, unless otherwise requested.

  9. Will you mark my box as "gift" or change the declared value so I don't have to pay customs/duty?

No. Lying on customs and shipping documents is illegal. I will not lie for you and risk a fine or other legal penalties.

  10. I don't have a reference picture, can you still make my costume?

No, Komickrazi Studios policy requires a reference image or picture that shows the entire costume or costume piece you wish to have made. This Ref image will be my guidline for colors and markings when I made your costume and must be EXACTLY what you want. Please do not send me a drawing then add a list of changes where the image does not match features you wish. If you have any changes you want to make to your costume I will require them to be added to the reference drawing BEFORE I begin work on your costume.

The ONLY exception I will make regarding a reference image would be if you desire an "Artistic license" costume where I am giving full creative freedom regarding the look of your costume.

  11. I really like _______ fursuit you made. Can you make me one just like it?

No, most fursuits are created by an individual to be unique and personal expressions of themselves. I will never copy a fursuit I made for someone else.

  12. Can you make a fursuit in the style of another maker?

No, if you like ______ maker, contact them for a commission. I will not copy or replicate another maker's works.

Q/A about costumes:

  1. Where do you get your fur?

I get some fur at local fabric stores, however most of my fur is purchased online.

Here is a list of some of the websites I purchase fur from:

  2. Do you do commissions for non-furry costumes?

Yes, however because of the wide range of costume types I cannot provide information on base prices. If you would like to commission me to do a non-furry costume, please e-mail me with reference pictures of the costume and I will be able to give you a quote. Please note, I do NOT make weapons, boots/shoes or style wigs (with the exception of Cats Musical wigs).

  3. What materials do you use when making costumes? Do you use real fur?

I use an assortment of materials for my costumes. Most Fursuits are made with ABS plastic, cast resin, upholstery and expanding soft foam, and covered with materials such as Faux Fur, upholstry fabric, fleece, spandex-lycra and stretch velvet. I do NOT use real fur on my costumes, however I may use fur/leather or real horns and antlers for accent pieces to a costume. If you commission a piece from me and do not wish me to use any real animal products, please inform me when asking for a quote.

  4. Do you sell unfinished headbases?

Sorry no, at this time I do not sell unfinished headbases.

  5. What's a Duct Tape Dummy and why do you want one?

Duct Tape Dummies (DTDs) are a cheap but highly accurate representation of the customer's body. There are many tutorials online for how to create one. They allow me to have an exact replica of your body to work from. DTDs are a MUST for full fursuits and fursuits with padding. For other types of costumes, they are highly recommended, but not necessarily required. I will let you know when you inquire for a commission if a DTD is required or not.

  6. What measurements do you need for my costume?

For Full Fursuits, I will require a DTD. In addition to the DTD, I need the following measurements:

    • Shoe size
    • A tracing of your hand
    • Head measurements:
    • head measurement diagram

For Partial Fursuits, I may or may not require a DTD. I will inform you if one is required. I will also need:

    • Shoe size
    • A tracing of your hand
    • Head measurements: (see above image)
    • For arm sleeves I will also require arm measurements:
    • arm measurement diagram

For Other Cosplay costumes, Cats costumes and Unitards I may or may not require a DTD. I will inform you if one is required. I will also need:

    • Body measurements:
    body measurement diagram
  7. Can my fullsuit be worn as a partial?

Yes and No, it depends how the suit is made. For costumes made with fabric or short pile fur like lizards and dragons I find tails look more seamless if they are attached to the body with an interior removable tail core for shape. This means the tail is not removable from the body for wearing as a partial. If you would like to wear your costume as a partial please inform me when requesting a quote and we can discuss options.

  8. Can I get a moving jaw?

Yes and no, it depends on the style of head you would like. Realistic and semi-real heads made with a hard resin or ABS plastic base come standard with moving jaws. Toony heads or any head made with soft expanding or upholstery foam have static jaws ONLY.

  9. What is the difference between outdoor and indoor feet paws? can I have both?

Outdoor feetpaws are built around a shoe with a rubber sole. These feet are rugged and durable indoors and out. Indoor feetpaws have fur and paw-pads on the bottom of the foot for added realism, however they get dirty easily and wear out with heavy use. If you know you will not be wearing your suit outside, or on rough surfaces, you may prefer the indoor variety of feetpaws. However I would otherwise highly recommend you choose Outdoor feetpaws, since they are longer lasting, easier to clean and more durable.

If you wish, I can make both indoor and outdoor feetpaws for your suit, so you can interchange depending on where you are wearing your costume. I can also make Feetpaw Sandals which can be worn with your feetpaws. These can further extrend the life of your feetpaws, as the sandals protect the feet from contact with the ground. Please inquire pricing for this option with your commission request.

  10. I love Dragonmom! Can I get my feet attached to the body like hers?

Sorry no. Dragonmom was made as what I refer to as a "Showpiece suit". Costumes like this are made with the intention of wearing for cosplay competitions and do not require wearing for long periods of time or in various enviornments. Attached feet look very nice, but they are extremely hard to wash and pack and can cause increased pressure and discomfort on your back and shoulders. For both comfort and conveninece I will not make suits with feet attached to the body.

  11. How do I care for my new suit?

To clean, hand wash or machine wash on gentle with a fur-friendly soap like Woolit. Hang your suit or lay flat to dry. Do NOT put your suit in the dryer, as the heat can cause the faux fur to melt. Fursuits with padding require more time to dry. Do NOT submerse your head in water. Use a light damp cloth or sponge to clean your head as needed, but be gentle, as some of the airbrushing or painted highlights may be washed away. You can spray the interior of the head with febreeze to keep clean and reduce odors, but allow the head to dry completely before storing.

To maintain your suit's appearance, you may comb it periodically. Keep in mind, combing tears out fur that will not grow back, so be gentle and do not comb too roughly or too often. I prefer to store my suits in garment bags on hangers. This keeps dirt and dust off of them, and reduces wrinkles. You can put some scented dryer sheets in the garment bag to keep your suit smelling fresh and clean. I store my heads on a shelf, or in boxes. Remember to store your head somewhere it will not be crushed or squished in any way.

  12. Help, something ripped/fell off/broke. What do I do?

Komickrazi Studios has a 30 day warranty on all suits. If anything happens to your suit in that time, ship it back and I will repair it free of charge. Please note, this Warranty will become Null and Void if the suit has been abused or used improperly. I also require all items returned for repair have been cleaned. I will not work on a soiled or dirty suit, and will ship it back at the cost to the customer.

After this 30 day timeframe I am still willing to repair your suit, however I will do so for a cost.
