Making a Duct Tape Dummy (DTD)
1) Things you will need: Duct tape at least 3 rolls (more if you are rather large/tall), Some old clothes you don't wear anymore (if you do not have any old clothes, you can buy a cheap disposable painting smock at your local hardware store in the paint section), a Permanent Marker, scissors (surgical scissors are preferable, however any type will do), and a friend or two to help. I would like to thank Lucifur for volunteering to be my victim for this tutorial and Matt Panther for his assistance. Such good sports! ** NOTE: Please remember to go to the bathroom BEFORE you start taping.**
2) Start at the ankles (If you would like, you can duct tape the feet as well if you desire). Tape using small strips at a time and working your way up. You do not have to tape tightly, the person being taped should feel comfortable and shouldn't be loosing circulation during the process.
3) Continue up the legs using small sections of tape at a time.
4) Once the legs are completely taped, your victim will be unable to chase after you, so snap a few blackmail photos while you can. Hohoho! Just wait til we have to do your DTD Matt Panther... revenge is sweet.
5) Continue taping up the torso area, begin taping up the back.
6) Tape the chest using a criss cross pattern, remember to continue use small sections of tape.
7) The chest is now nearly covered. Make sure your victim is in a comfortable position, as they will be pretty much immobile in the torso area.
8) When taping the arms, start at the wrist, this will keep your clothes from riding up as you tape. Again, you may tape your hands as well, but this is completely optional.
9) Now your DTD is complete. You can tape the arms at any degree you like, however a comfortable position raised from the body should be sufficient for most suitmakers.
10) Take your marker and draw your cutting lines. Mark every now and again some lines so the suit will be easier for the suitmaker to piece it back together. It also helps to draw an indicator where your would like the tail to go.
11) Carefully cut your victim out of the Duct tape following the lines your have drawn.
12) Now your DTD is now ready to ship! Fold it up as so and pop it in the mail, your suitmaker will be able to re-assemble and stuff it upon it's arrival.
